Where Medicine Meets Advocacy

Sound familiar?

Got back pain? “Lose Weight”

Irregular periods? “Try diet and exercise”

Depression? “Have you considered that losing weight might help?”

So you’re sitting in another GP appointment, watching them type “advice given re: weight management” into your notes before you’ve even finished describing your symptoms. You leave feeling unheard, invalidated, and wondering if you’re just making it all up.

Meanwhile, you’re desperately trying to figure out what’s actually wrong with your body. You’re frantically Googling your symptoms, asking the internet for advice, and second-guessing every ache and pain because you’ve been conditioned to believe that fat people don’t deserve proper medical care.

What happens when you have medical questions but don’t trust your doctor?

You end up avoiding medical appointments because you’re tired of being blamed for everything. You have to rely on the internet or advice from well-meaning friends and influencers who aren’t medically trained.

You feel lost when your test results don’t make sense or the treatments isn’t working, because no one cares enough to take the time to explain. And you can’t help wonder if your symptoms are serious enough to warrant medical attention, or if you’re just being a hypochondriac

You deserve better!

Imagine being able to talk to a doctor who doesn’t blame everything on your weight. Who actually listens. A doctor who understands that you can be fat AND have legitimate medical concerns that have nothing to do with your size.

Now imagine that doctor is at the end of a phone, ready to to answer all of your niggling medical questions before they spiral into 2am Google rabbit holes. The “is this normal?” moments. The “should I be worried about this?” thoughts that pop up between appointments. The test results that arrive with no explanation. The symptoms you’re not sure are worth bothering your GP about – especially when you know they’ll probably just tell you to lose weight anyway.

You shouldn’t have to wait weeks for a GP appointment just to ask a quick question. You shouldn’t have to stay awake at night worrying, and you definitely shouldn’t have to navigate your health concerns completely alone.

welcome to the consulting room

your monthly membership

for weight-inclusive medical support, education, and a community that validates your experiences

Here's how it works

Inside The Consulting Room, You Get:

Direct Medical Support. Your just send me a text or voice note whenever you have a medical question or have an appointment coming up that you want to talk through. Or maybe you just need to vent to someone you can trust.

✓ Access to The Full Masterclass Library. Enjoy comprehensive patient education on weight-related medical conditions including diabetes, PCOS, joint pain, heart health, and more – all taught from a weight-inclusive perspective.

✓ Access to The Weighting Room is Included. You’ll get full access to our supportive community, regular body doubling sessions, peer support, and all the benefits of our metaphorical waiting room where fat patients (myself included) support each other.

And if you’re wondering what the difference is between the two rooms…

The Weighting Room is like a doctor’s waiting room, where we sit together as patients, supporting each other through our shared experiences of medical discrimination and weight stigma.

The Consulting Room is where I step into my role as your doctor –  providing the medical expertise, guidance, and advocacy you need to navigate your health journey.

Think of it as moving from the waiting room into the consultation – except this time, you’re seeing a doctor who actually understands what you’ve been through.

are we a good fit?

Spaces in the Consulting Room are intentionally limited.

This space was designed for someone with multiple symptoms or conditions that are dismissed or blamed on weight. Someone who needs help understanding test results, diagnoses, or treatment options. Who wants medical guidance from someone who practices weight-inclusive care.

If you’re someone with more than one chronic conditions like diabetes, joint pain, chronic fatigue or PCOS, then I’m the doctor for you. I practice evidence based medicine, which means I don’t blame you for your symptoms and I won’t tell you to lose weight because I know it isn’t going to improve your health outcomes.

I understand the mental and physical toll of weight stigma, and the emotional labour involved in preparing for and sitting through medical appointments. Sometimes you just need someone to talk to before and after – that’s what I’m here for.

I’m also here to help you sift through conflicting medical advice and signpost you to evidence-based information about your health condition. Or just to listen and validate you when you feel confused or overwhelmed by it all.

Healthcare is a basic human right.

You shouldn’t have to become an expert in weight-inclusive medicine to access the care you’re entitled to. The Consulting Room exists so you don’t have to.

It’s the perfect fit if you often find yourself thinking:

🎯”I don’t know if this symptom is serious enough to see a doctor”

🎯”My doctor just tells me to lose weight for everything”

🎯”I got blood work back but I don’t understand what it means”

🎯”I’m scared to go to the doctor because of how they treat me”

🎯”I wish I had a doctor who actually understood my situation”

Here's what you need to know...

Real Stories From Our Community:

“I have a diabetic review every few months, and I know what the nurse practitioner is going to say before I walk through the door – “lose weight and cut down on carbs”. I know it’s BS, but I don’t know how to push back against the advice, so I just end up freezing like a deer in headlights. Or at least I did. Now I speak to Asher the week before my appointment. We take a look at my most recent blood results and come up with a list of questions to ask and a plan that works for me. The nurse always seems surprised when I come so prepared, but I haven’t had an issue since!”

“I’d been putting up with all sorts of niggling health issues for months and months because I was so afraid of going to the doctor. But then I found Asher and now we talk them through before I make an appointment with my GP. It makes all the difference.”

“I’d been getting pain and swelling in my hands for several months. Saw a doctor who said it was wear and tear, and that weight loss would help. I didn’t trust him, so I spoke to Asher who queried why I hadn’t been offered a set of blood tests. He explained what the blood tests would look for, and that gave me the courage I needed to push back. And guess what? It turns out I have rheumatoid arthritis. It was picked up on the blood test I apparently didn’t need 🙄”

Questions?

Q: How does the DM/voice note support work?

A: All communication happens through Signal chat, which provides excellent encryption for your privacy. Messages can be set to disappear after a set time for additional security. This is not an emergency service – for urgent medical concerns, contact your GP or emergency services. I aim to respond within 3-5 working days.

Q: What kind of questions can you answer

A: I can help with general medical questions, explaining test results, discussing symptoms, and providing weight-inclusive health guidance. Complex cases requiring detailed assessment or treatment planning will need a separate 1:1 consultation.

Q: Why can't I just sign up?

A: I intentionally limit spaces to ensure I can provide quality support to all members. The Consulting Room isn’t just a subscription service – it’s personalized medical guidance where I respond to each member individually. Before I take your money, I want to make sure that I’m a good fit for you, and that I have enough time and space to offer you the service you deserve.

Q: Can you be my doctor?

A: Strict laws govern who can be your registered medical practitioner. While I am a doctor and can provide advice and guidance, I cannot serve as your doctor.

Q: What if I need more intensive support?

A: If your request is too complex for the consulting room format, I’ll direct you to book a 1:1 consultation instead. Members get priority booking at my standard rate of £200/hour.

Q: Can I cancel anytime?

A: Yes, this is a monthly membership with no long-term commitment.

Got any further questions? Then please Email me. I’m here to help you navigate your health journey with dignity and respect.

The Consulting Room provides medical education and general guidance. This is not medical treatment, and members should maintain relationships with primary care providers for ongoing medical care.
